hi folks,
after sitting un-ridden for a month and suffering through the idiot's reserve process (you know tip it over so that little bit of extra gas can migrate to the other side of the tank) my 2007 will not idle. It runs good as long as i keep it above 2k rpms, but any quick stops and the bike stops.
It will start easily with the choke on full..
I added fuel stabilizer and ran it for a while, but it still rus rough, stalls below 2k rpms and backfires periodically when i let off the throttle....
thoughts or suggestions?
thanks,
albatross

running rough
Add a tank of fresh gas with a double dose of SeaFoam or Regain (like 2 oz/gal or even a tad more), run motor for 10 min, let sit overnight to a day or two, start it up and ride bike till most of the gas is used up. Repeat if needed.
I prefer SeaFoam, and have run it in very strong mix (more than 3 oz and 1 gal of gas) the bike will smoke a bit, and the exhaust will smell funny but in many (most) cases this will solve the problem after a tank or two of gas.
I normally add a shot SeaFoam every second or third fill up, and always if I put the bike up for longer than a week or two.

Had to take the tank off to run electric lines for additional lighting and an electric plug I mound on the hanlde bar bracket. Put everything back together and started the bike. It ran for about 2 minutes and then stopped. I thought I ran out of gas knowing that I had run the tank low, not on reserve yet, but low prior to the electrical additions. I turned the petcock to reserve, still no luck. I have the battery charging now but the damn thing won't start. Any ideas? > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] >
