farkle pop quiz - name that farkle............

Post by Eddie » Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:14 pm

OK, so you think you know your Farkle Facts? I will give bragging rights to the Farkle-ista among you who can please help me find a Farkle item that I saw on the internet and did not bookmark, and I can not relocate it! So, the Double Jeopardy Farkle Question is, "On some web site, I saw a set of replacement screws for the KLR's Brake Fluid Reservoir. The screws came with an allen wrench, and instead of a phillips head, the screws had a hex, which reduces the chance of stripping the screws when removing the Brake Fluid Reservoir cover" Who sells that? EddieM

Those are 4x12 counter sunk screws that you can pickup at most hardware stores. http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/bolt.html Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com From: eddie Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2011 5:14 PM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Farkle Pop Quiz - Name That Farkle............ <><><><><><> <><><><><><> EddieM, I think EagleMike sells that and I bet Fred does too. I think you could also get the same parts locally at a decent hardware store. Just remove one screw from the cover and take it along as a sample for thread size and length. They should also have allen wrenches available individually for a reasonable cost. AND Most hardwares now have Crome accessieres, in the collection are caps (Lg & smal) to fit into the allen head hole, even differant styles, Smooth, ridges, EAGLE's etc., They just snap in, then catch the edge to pop back out as needed. A little fancy for a KLR, so just an FYI.

Thanks Fred, I've seen them on EBAY where they advertise a whole 150+ piece set too. I've been doing just the piece at a time thing from the harware store for my 2003/26,450mi and at a few bucks at a time It's pretty inexpensive. By the way my doohickey w/ just the two regular springs worked just fine (many Thanks). I bought the wrenches from you and still saved a enough bucks to feel like I got ahead of the game and learned/got enough confidence to go onto a valve job. It worked too, I didn't bother ordering the gaskets, but then I don't ride the bike to work so I could've waited for parts if needed. I did Colorado Springs to Mesa Verde this year, met a guy from ADV Rider at the Dunes...maybe make it to Moab someday to say "hey". tip over gas leak

Post by RobertWichert » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:56 am

I have dropped mine a LOT (no comments about riding skill, OK?). Once I dropped it on a one-lane road when an oncoming car scared me into the ditch. Broke my ankle. But before I got my s**t together and picked up the bike, gas leaked out of the canister on the back left side (carbon canister?). Anyway, it wasn't much and it stopped after I picked it up. NO leakage from the gas cap at all. Ever. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================
