are there instructions about installation of the torsion type doohickey spring posted on the internet anywhere? and jeff, if you have heard of a couple torsion springs breaking, does that imply you don't use them? recommend them? and how do these springs compare to wound springs normally used in the doohickey replacement? i got to put in a new doohickey in my new to me 09 and i want to do it with the best parts with the most longivity. robert [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

<><><><><><> <><><><><><> robert, Sorry for the confusion. I think the torsion spring is the best set up for the KLR650 available today. I have had one in my KLR for about 2 years I think. My stock spring was broken at 3,200 miles when I replaced the doo. I installed the longer EagleMike spring at that time. At about 16,000 miles (I think) on the longer spring I replaced it with a shorter EagleMike spring as the longer spring had almost no tension left. Maybe 3 months later the EagleMike torsion spring became available. I waited another 10,000 miles or so before replacing the short EagleMike extension spring with an EagleMike torsion spring that had been on the shelf in my shop for a few years. I currently have no intention of going in and looking at the doo or torsion spring. There are pictures of many many stock extension springs that are broken. I only recall hearing of a torsion spring or two being reported broken. That could have been a defective spring, improper installation or some other problem causing the spring to break. If I had to put a doo and spring in a KLR I was going to own I would only install an EagleMike doohickey and EagleMike torsion spring. I think if you google doohickey installation instructions you'll probably get a few hits on youtube or other sites. I've never looked for instructions so have no first hand info on where to find them. If you use genuine EagleMike products you can call him direct and get over the phone coaching as needed.
