2010 klr low fender?

Post by Vik Banerjee » Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:36 am

I've got a 2010 KLR with a fork brace on it [Happy Trail]. I'm just wondering if there is an easy bolt on low fender that works with this setup? safe riding, Vik Banerjee threeohm@... www.thelazyrando.com

2010 klr low fender?

I just received the UFO fender from Fred at Arrowhead Motor Sports. It's a good place to start your project. I chose the UFO as it looks less like a stealth fighter like others do. There are a couple forums that have pictures of changes to the fender to make to have it fit, but I dont' remember just which ones. That is part of the fun, doing the research. My KLR is a 2002, so your project will vary. Consider taking some photos as you go and sharing. The weather now is just too nice to stay garage bound so I haven't taken the time to get started mounting this to my fork brace (I think it is Eagle Mike's, but not certain, it does have 4 tapped holes that look meant for the purpose). It is hard to photograph black plastic well, but I thought I'd try to document my process and results to share on forums. Not that I'd do a better job than someone else, but just to add to the pool that I've enjoyed learning from. Steve Jacobson

That's OEM. I think it holds itself still while you torque it, mine does. My top motor mount bolt has an odd threaded piece on the left side. See the photo below. Is this original? Shouldn't it have a nut like all the other bolts?
