wells, bc trip. nklr
I just got back from Quebec.........French Canada, not on my motorcycles, but a great trip (45th wedding anniversary trip). Quebec City was great, the coastal road going up to a whale watching area was great. The food and the Canadians (French) were great. I saw one KLR in Quebec City and a couple DR's and Beemers on the river road. I saw a ton of Harley's (marketing is everything) on the river road. September or October there would be primo (I think).
I went on a 60 mile ride yesterday on the KLR.......in the Texas heat. Early, mid morning or around sunset is the only time to ride here for about 2 months. I rode at about 5300 rpm (80ish indicated). Very dangerous and death defying for some KLRers. Very mellow for me. A Harley guy with ape hangers waved as I passed him. Trucks blew me around some....yawn.
Need a new chain. Hey Fred.

jardine rt-4 is good with the $40 extra quiet module
It is so loud without it. Think of a very loud
2 stroke or a 4 stroke with no muffler at all or a super-retarded motard. Makes the KLR comparable to a loud Harley.
Definite weight savings since the muffler is aluminum. The quiet module is an easy mount restrictor that installs into end of the tail pipe.
The Jardine RT-4 requires trimming of your plastic rear fender 1" by
3" or the hot air coming out the exhaust would melt it. The DPO riveted the hanger in place which is a D thing to do since the rivets just wore oblong holes in the muffler that I had to get alu welded. I used some gasket material to insulate/isolate it from the hanger though I could cut it closer to make it look prettier.
But, new you would spend $300 for the Jardine RT-4 then another
$40 for the quiet module.
It is an expensive way to avoid the tweety and save an est. 6 lbs.
However, it does improve torque and hp.
