running stop lights
It would have been a BS ticket. Which more than likely would have been
tossed in court. After it was discovered the stop light sensors were not
working with your KLR. Unless the court is just into revenue generation.

Thanks for the feed back, yes I rode the bike after I dropped it,Robert is
correct I does not affect the ride but It just bothers me to see some thing out
of line ( I am a level and plumb bob kind of guy).
**Fred** I guess I will have to check your site to see what kind of "tricks"
you offer and then I probably will call your 1-900 number to find out how
"tricky" you are .... Yes , no mistake I wrote 1-900 ( $4.50 for the first
minute and $3.50 after that, as advertised, correct ? ) ........ Just kidding .
Thanks Y'all

Straightening steel handlebars will make the steel softer and will cause them to
bend easier the next time.
Send me your credit card and I ll show you some tricks ........

Guys,
I dropped my '05..not riding.. on the pavement (concrete) it fell straight down
on the left side and bent the left grip at about a 8 to10 degree angle compared
to the right..throttle.. side . Stock handle bar .
Any tricks you would know of to fix that ?
Thanks.

running stop lights
There are several states where it is legal to turn left on red after a full
cycle of the lights. PA is not one of them. However, I do it on a regular
basis.
One intersection the first one with a light is about a mile away on my
usual route when heading north (and it s within sight of a police station)
will NEVER turn green for a left turn unless there are two or more bikes, or
if a car pulls up behind you. I routinely run the red when it is safe to
do so.
Another traffic signal is at an intersection of a 4 lane state highway and a
lightly traveled county road and has a left turn arrow. I ll sit through
that one for one or two cycles of the light, knowing it s not going to
change, then proceed when safe. Meanwhile, traffic is whizzing past me on
the right, most vehicles traveling well above the 55 MPH speed limit.
On that road, and countless others across the USA, you have 4 choices:
1) Wait until a car comes along and triggers the light. With each minute
sitting there, you are at risk of being hit from behind by someone who
didn t see you . ...Dangerous.
2) Get off the bike, run across the road, and hit the pedestrian button, and
wait for the light to change (not always an option). ...Dangerous.
3) Merge back into traffic that is going straight and turn elsewhere, where
it is legal. VERY dangerous, especially on the multi lane road mentioned
above.
4) Turn left when there is no oncoming traffic and the light is green in
your direction of travel (if you were not turning).
I'll go with choice #4 every time. I've never been pulled over, but I don't
recall ever seeing a patrol car while doing it. If I ever do get pulled
over, I will be polite, explain the situation, and take what comes.

Here in the Greensburg, Pa. area I have a few traffic signals that will not
turn when the KLR is stopped. I have tried two different store
bought magnets and I went to Radio Shack and got the components to make one
myself and it did not work.
A intersection where it comes to a 4 lane highway where the light does not
work with the KLR is a bit dangerous to pull out into, I
usually waited until another vehicle would come to make the light change.
One night on the way to work I got tired of waiting and as
soon as I committed myself I saw headlights coming around the corner behind
me and the next thing I knew I had the RED & BLUE lights behind me.
It was the Pennsylvania State Police in a unmarked car. I pulled over at the
entrance where I used to work (State Prison) and told him my story about
dealing with the borough and that stop light.
When a bunch of my friends that were coming to work at the time stopped and
kept telling the officer to give me a ticket he asked me
what was up with that and I told him I worked there. I don't know if it was
because I was a corrections officer that he did not give me a ticket.
If the problem involves digging up the highway to fix the traffic signal I
am sure the borough is not going to dig it up for my KLR.
Some of the local borough police have motorcycles and they told me that the
signal does not change for them also.
