kicker question. yes. kickstart.
All KLR600/650 up to 95 used 7 friction plates. After 96 the KLR has 8 friction plates. Are you sure you only have 6? If you are, that may be why your clutch is slipping.

Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Kicker question. Yes. Kickstart.
Say Y'all,
I've been running a kickstarter for awhile now and my clutch is starting to slip a bit due to the facts that there's a wee bit more power (ported head and FMF pipe) and that the clutch basket I'm running has 6 friction disks instead of 7.
I built with a 2002 lower end and 2004 or 2006 top end. Got the 84 to 87 KLR600 kicker with a couple of gears, the spur and the idle...
My question:
Is anyone running a kickstart with a 650 7-friction disk clutch basket?
Thanks,
Mech
