hello
My 94 is not running well. Drained the carb last fall drained tank. Month ago refueled and fired up everything wonderful. Drove to station fueled completely up with high test and 7 or 8 miles down the road it acts as there is no gas. switched to reserve and am dieing fast. Put choke on and can continue at slower speeds. Headed home in the evening must ride with chock and slight throttle. Replace spark plug, checked coil electrics all appears fine.
still won't run without choke. Remove carb and clean jets check float reassemble starts fine runs normal. couple test runs and I'm cool. Head to town 5 miles down and backrunning on chock and little throttle. At home drain carb empty old gas, fires up runs fine. test ride great park go for another test ride next day runs great for 1/2 mile now running horrible again> Any Ideas

I don't know about where you live, but the bikes that get stolen around here are the Japanese and European sport bikes... mainly for parts.
KLRs aren't really in demand so they largely leave them alone.
Yet another advantage of riding an ugly bike.

There are Motion Etc. Alarms for about $140. +-, "Motorcycle consumer News" Di a comparison test on them a few months ago.

I am going to have to park my KLR in an outodoor parking lot . What are my best options for keeping the sun and rain off? Also I'm not real comfortable about the security where I will be. There's a lot of expensive options. And there's the covers on ebay for $.01 , But I was looking at just a tour master PVC cover that goes to the ground and getting a 6 foot cable lock to put through through the wheels. so far only about $70. Should I add a disk lock too? What can I get that's better for the same $$ ? -- charlie, moving in a week . . .
