white rim road now open for business nklr
If you are planning a trip to Moab or coming for the CMC, the White Rim road was washed out last year and has now been repaired.

There is in effect a temporary day-use permit system for everyone wanting to ride the WR. I was told this basically was to help educate everyone to stay on the road while the maintenance crew was repairing the bad spots. The day-use permit is supposed to be in effect until the end of May and is free at the Moab Information Center or at the Island in the Sky Visitor Center in Canyonlands. You are still required to pay an entrance fee (around $5 for a bike) to access Canyonlands NP but the day-use permit is something extra and may or may not be extended after May. All vehicles will be required to be street legal with a license plate. They are talking about letting ATVs that are street legal into the park but as of right now, I think they are still not allowed. There is a 15mph speed limit on the WR that is enforced by the Park Rangers. You will be ticketed for speeding so be careful. Be courteous around other visitors and slow down.

Fred, If this is a full blown, NP =National Park, we should be able to access the park with an annual National Park Pass without an additional fee ( I would think ). At least mine let me in Big Horn Battle Field, Glacier NP, Yellowstone, and Bad Lands last summer. I would think the Canyonlands would qualify as well. revmaaatin.

My "All Parks" annual pass gets me into any NPS, BLM, FWS, USDA, and
USBR site.

See: Annual Pass Use, Item 6. I had to patiently explain that to the
ranger at Chincoteague NWR before she pulled out the rule book and said
"I'll be darned - you're right". Despite that, I would have been happy
to give them $5 more for the day.

Yes, Canyonlands National Park is a full blown National Park. My point being that you used to be able to do day rides into this park without a permit. Those days are gone and fees are charged. A Golden Eagle Pass $80 will get you into all National Parks as will some others. http://www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm There is a regional annual pass $25 that will get you into Canyonlands, Arches, Natural Bridges and Hovenweep. http://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm
