klr swingarm modification
Hello to all,
My name is Kostas and i am interested of replacing the swingarm of my EU 2005 C model with the US 09 in order to fit the rear twin caliper. Did any one know if this is feacable. Thank you for your feedback.

klr swingarm modification
Helllo Stu,
I am passioned with my bike and planning lots of mods. I would like to reinforce the rear brake because i will fit the schnitz racing piston kit 705, with hot cams, and FCR carb, and would like to be sure that i will have enough stopping power. I have already installed the oversize 320 front disck.

OK Kostas thats kinda what i thought but even with the 705 kit which is not a big jump from 650 i think you could do it easyer with say a better brake caliper and steel braided brake lines and maybe someway to get a bigger disc on the back if thats possible,as a lot of us have found out over the years when you start the "MOD"thing also called "FARKLing"sometimes they work and sometimes,well you get the idea,good luck.

Lots of racers don't even use the back brake much at all. But I guess

If you get it done, in true KLR fashion, the mod is named after you: the PETRAKIS mod. or something of your choosing. smile. But only if you get-R--done. At the very least, (some might disagree; shrug) remove the rear brake pads, spray them with brake cleaner and sand them (600 grit wet/dry paper; place the sand paper on top of a flat surface, wet the pads and sand the pad side in a circular fashion) and see it that helps. And throughly clean (spray off) the brake disc with brake cleaner. (Do not let the cleaner get into the bearings; it will clean them also! Let the disc dry (drys in moments) Check disc with a clean white rag. Then clean the disc again until nothing comes off the disc onto the rag. When the rage comes off clean, spray off the disc one more time to remove any rag-residue Let us know how that works out. revmaaatin. who is still 18-30 days from riding. maybe. and then I am going ground hog hunting...unless Mark V. Ya... seriously. A lot of "upgrades" on the KLR650 are absolutely
pointless, and this is one of 'em.
I think oil threads are even more productive than an extended
"how-to" BS session on a pointless upgrade.
End of discussion.... and I'm not being a wise-guy.
So, anyone know where I can get a rear window for my Tengai?
