I recently picked up a V65 Magna and need to get a service manual. Opinions on which manual is better would be appreciated. Craig |

I usually prefer Haynes, but If I can get both I will.

I prefer the OEM books over anything else. They're available at lots of places and many times on eBay.

My experience with Clymer v. Haynes dates back a few years.....................I have found the Haynes manuals to be much more complete. In the older Triumph, Ducati and Kaw manuals that I have, as compared with the Clymer manuals covering the same bikes of the day, the photos and diagrams that go with each step made whatever repair I was attempting much easier. I also liked to read the Haynes without working on anything. For reading pleasure, nothing surpasses the Japanese factory shop manuals (Translated??? into Engrish) from the late sixties/early seventies.I have also found that the Haynes manuals for Toyota Landcruisers to be much, much better than the Clymers for the same vintages and models. My vote is for the Haynes.

Attachments :The Honda OEM manuals are excellent, much better than either the Clymer or Haynes (and considerably better than the Kawasaki OEM manuals.) You can frequently find used OEM manuals on eBay at reasonable prices. Large multi-line motorcycle dealers such as RMC in Renton, WA usually have five or six lineal feet of older OEM manuals for sale at bargain prices, typically in the $8 or $10 range. Motorcycle-specific users groups sometimes have produced free PDF copies of out-of-print OEM manuals. If all the less expensive alternatives don’t produce the manual you need you can still order Honda factory manuals from Honda’s official manual publisher, Helm Incorporated, see http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_retail_ahc.asp?Style=helm They are not inexpensive but the first time you perform a service yourself rather than pay a dealer for the service the manual has paid for itself many times over.
