Dooden is right on the money. All kinds of folks have ridden around with their forks up 3" in the clamps without any instability. One dealer I talked to even told me it was a feature of the bike that allowed me to lower it. (Needless to say, that chucklehead will never see any of my money.) I don't think you can change the rake and trail enough to make a KLR wobble. You want to make your KLR wobble, overload it at the rear. The rake and trail will be increased, but the front end will hunt and wiggle all over the place. So your bike might steer slower, but it will be unstable.> > Sure. > > BUT, how many folks on this list have driven away and did'nt know that the forks were still in shipping position ? > > Talking about 3/4" (.750) > > Its that tiny bit I needed to get traction when in the woods, my feet slipped at the worst time, now I can at least get a grip. > > No effects to handling for me, other than bit shorter rake. no biggy > > Dooden > A15 Green Ape > > > --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "skypilot110" wrote: > > > > Be careful putting the forks up like that. If you get them to high then you could get a high speed shake, worst case schenario would be a tank slapper. You shorten the rake and trail when you raise the forks. > > > >

parts compatibility list uploaded
I put a text file in the files area to serve as an initial parts compatibility list. As it grows I will move it to some other appropriate format. I added the fan as the first item.
If you are aware of other cross compatible parts that can be used in place of KLR parts please email them to me directly. I will add them to the list all at once. After that I will try to find a way to make the list such that items can be added by members as needed
Send compatible parts with the following information to
chris.eckert@...
KLR part name
applicable KLR years, if known
part to be used
varience between part years if known
how to find said part if known
You can access this file at the URL:
