alignment?

Post by mark ward » Fri Jun 11, 2010 1:58 pm

Hey
For Rear wheel alignment, some articals say center on the swing arm, (like using the hash marks. better calipers) other books/ sites, say line it up with the front tire. (but will the chain, gears etc. line up right?)

Myself I eyeball the chain/sprockets while spinning by hand from the rear looking down the top of the chain. Story has it the hash marks are useless. Never even look at them. Dooden A15 Green Ape

To your point there is really two alignment that are totally independent from each other 1- The chassis alignment would be the alignment of the front and rear wheel as the bike is travelling in a straight line 2- The powertrain alignment would be the alignment of the motor with the rear wheel Both should be correct for proper handling and sprockets/chain and tire wear Sylvain 2008 KLR 685 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa GSXR 1300 turbo 1977 Can-Am 175 Qualifier 1976 Honda XL100 1972 Honda SL70
