nklr [dsn_klr650] spam

Post by k650 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 5:31 pm

Fred, please reread my post.   Note I made no mention of you or the job you do.  I was answering a fellow listers question and referred to Yahoo.  You are not Yahoo.  If Yahoo used software to filter suspected spam like Verizon the message would never have made it to the list or even to you.  The spammer would have received something like this:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:    Spam

      Sent: 2/23/2010 3:40 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com on 2/23/2010 3:40 PM

550 5.7.1 The message you attempted to send was determined to be spam. Please visit http://www.verizon.net/spamfaq for more information.

That is what I got when I tried to forward my first notice with the body of the message intact.

So one slipped pass the goalie (you).  My point was if Yahoo was on their toes the shot would have been blocked before it even got to the goalie.

Walt

And just how much spam have you gotten on this list?  Not much.  My job as the moderator is to filter out those that look suspicious before they get a chance.  The guy that posted that message has been a member of this list for about 6 years.  Spammers usually don't get in the front door.  We all make mistakes and he made his.

If Yahoo used the same spam software as Verizon it would have never posted.
