radiator coolant leaking on right side of engine - what seal???
2006 KLR. Coolant is leaking out of a small hole beneath the water pump. This is located on the right forward side of the engine. It is a very small leak right now, but, that is the time to fix these kind of things.
Last maintenance (in this area of the engine) was to clean the oil strainer screen about 15000 miles ago. Other than that...no problems.
My question, is this weep hole leak just an indication of a failing "mechanical water pump seal" or are there additional parts that I will need to order prior to opening the case for repair?
Part #s' I have obtained from the kaw.com site.
Wtr Pump Cover Seal P/N 11060-1114
Wtr Pump Mechanical Seal 49063-1056
The oil seal P/N is 92049-1157, but I do not know If I need to change that seal at the same time.
If anyone has performed this maintenance, please chime in.
Thanks.

Mechanical seal. Take off the water pump cover, impeller, then the clutch cover. Install new mechanical seal, o-ring on impeller, gasket for the water pump cover and clutch cover and button it back up. Fill with 50/50 non-silicate coolant and distilled water. You will also need oil and a filter if you need to replace it. Also, while you are in there, pull the screen at the bottom of the engine case and clean it. Usually there is are pieces of sealant and chain-guide material, which is no problem.

Yes sounds like your waterpump seal is going out. I did this on my nike probably at 15,000 miles. It has been so long ago, I don't remember much about it. You do want to be very careful and not damage the shaft if I remember correctly.

ignition interlock on bike
Most all of the ignition interlock units are leased from the mfg. (by the leasor/interlock vendor)& then subleased to the participant (customer). If the vendor does not receive the equipment back then the vendor takes a loss on the equipment. If you want to provide a description of the equipment I can tell you where you need to go to return it.Contact the vendor & explain your situation. They will most likely remove it free of charge because they want the unit back.In most states (and here in Oklahoma) it is a midemeanor criminal offense to tamper with the equipment. I do not know of any state where it is a felony.Interlocks for the most part are VERY simple. It is essentially a relay that is opereated by an alcohol sensor. When you blow a sample into the sensor , it determines your bac (breath alcohol concentration). Depending on which state you live in a failure occurs at a set level. The relay either allows fire to continue to the starter (pass) from
the interlock ...or it DOES NOT (fail) allow fire to continue to the starter depending on the result of the sample that you have blown.Interlocks very rarely interefere with whether the motor runs good or not.If the starter engages when you push the button after you have blown a sample and passed then it is safe to say the interlock is not part of the problem if the motor is having trouble. I am an avid KLR dual sporter with 16 years of ignition interlock experience.

Yes, when tightening the nut for the impeller, no more than 87 inch pounds, with a small dab of blue lock tight.

radiator coolant leaking on right side of engine - what seal???
It happened to me ,I just changed the o ring (6mm) inside the impeller and it fixed the leak
Be careful to turn the impeller clockwise gently when putting it back on the shaft otherwise you can damage the little o ring if you just push it in
