He said I could easily get away with a 20 HP system, for that final blast done the front straight on track days... Has anyone ever looked into nitrous for the KLR. Nothing ratical of course. Maybe there is a kit that would give the KLR an extra 5 or 6 ponies that could come in handy at some unforseen time. best price for engine oil
Rotella T or Chevron Delo 400 from the big gallon bottle, all summer long; Rotella T Synthetic (5W-40) from the somewhat more expensive big gallon bottle in the winter. The rate the KLR dirties up and burns through oil, anything fancier is a waste for many, many reasons. Thor> > Often I buy motor oil for my cars from Sams/Costco or Walmart. > Is there a best place to buy oil for my two Klr's? And is there > agreement on the oil I should use ... Kawasaki vs something eles? I > have been buying Kawasaki oil from the dealer, but I must be paying > too much. Sorry if this subject is old topic for the group, but I > haven't caught any of the discussions. Just looking for advice. Tks.

I would surely think it could be done cheaper also. The only time I would push the button, would be in 5th gear once the tach got to 5,000 just to feel the extra oomph for top end purposes only. The kit says it can be used once the engine reaches 2,500 rpm, and only if the throttle is wide open of course. I think it would be easier on the motor to wait for higher revs. Just don't let it over rev. Wonder what top speed would be at redline with a 16 tooth front sprocket !! I think we can put one together for less than that, if so, I will alert the list. Just think, open KLR drags at the MOAB.... I told a guy riding a KLR about this project at the Vortex in Little Five Points, Atlanta and he looked at me like I just pissed in his cornflakes, oh the purests of us all. We did test the outer limits of the KLR engine and when that thing came apart, it blow chunks out the inlet and exhaust. I think the only think usable is the cases and a few internal gears. BANG!!!! I actually found a kit by NOS that is for single cylinder motorcycles over 250cc. It will give up to a 9 h.p. boost. I have to believe the KLR engine could take that. But I don't see it in my near future. It has a $648 price tag.
