gas mileage

Post by fasteddiecopeman » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:00 pm

FWIW: yesterday and today I rode around 450 kms to visit OLD friends, and MOSTLY at 110 kms/hr INDICATED (68 MPH INDICATED), and (modded petcock for reserve) went onto reserve at 323 kms (200 miles), then rode another 100 kms (62 miles) before getting gas. I put in 19.2L out of an advertised capacity of 23L. YOUR results may vary...! This is on my '04 KLR, BTW, and temps were around 30C (86F?). Ed

My petcock has not been modified, and I have the $0.22 carb mod and muffler mods in place. I think you're about where you should be. Claims of 50-55mpg with the new KLR may be a bit optimistic. > > >
