rpm rise
I bought my 2003 brand new in 2005. I have had the tank off more than once, but everything was put back exactly where it came from.
Has anyone else noticed that turning the handlebars all the way to the left causes the engine to idle a couple hundred rpms higher. I checked the location of all the cables witht the service manual, and it appears everything is in the right location, and the throttle cables have the proper play in them. I am beginning to think that Kawasaki should have made the cables about an inch longer.

rpm rise
Yep same for me Rick. I did replace bars and bunch of other things but same issue. Only really notice it when sitting still though. It's tight with all those cables running under the tank. KLR has a very close turning (lock to lock) which most of us wouldn't trade off. Very easy to manuver. My large tank bag gets in the way some but then again only notice it when sitting still not riding.

rpm rise
Just a few weeks ago, I mentioned in a post that I'd be sitting at a light, engine fully warm, and my RPM would rise from maybe 1100 to 13 or 1400. I discovered that in adjusting my "pull" throttle cable to manual spec, I had got it slightly tight, causing the problem. Half a turn of the adjuster barrel in the one cable cured it. Easy to try...

Thank you for your service.
I would not hold my breath. They were originally scheduled for public
release a few years ago. They simply have not been able to keep up with the
Marine Corps/Army demands. I do not foresee them catching up any time soon.
You may however be able to find a used one. The Army sells them off from
time to time. The Corps on the other hand, never gets rid of anything but
Marines.
