oil filler plug disaster

I have a problem with the filler cap seeming to br "stripped" some times and then other times it screws in and holds normally. I drilled a hole in the flange of the cap and use a couple of zip ties to secure the cap to the clutch cable. Saved loosing the cap at least once so far. Mind you.........it wasn't exactly the same.... I added some oil at a gas station and forgot to put the cap back on.
