Hi all!
I bought a new Original Equipment K750 Dunlop front tire and had it installed. I have my bike back! The bike is better everywhere. Feels planted and steers precisely.
The new tire is a 90/90-21 just like the Kenda 761 that came off the wheel, maybe a third worn out. I'm sure the Kenda is a fine tire but it wouldn't work on my bike.
I'll check my steering bearings and change the fork oil this winter per your suggestions, but meanwhile....it's all good. By the way, the Dunlop was 39.95 at Apex Sports in Colo Springs, but I removed and replaced the wheel in their parking lot - and mount/balance was $30.
It's my impression that the K750 is sold only through Kawasaki dealers, so the online tire outfits don't offer it.

Jumpin' Jehosophat!! $30 to mount and balance one tire, and you removed and replaced the wheel??!?!? I think I paid like $10 bucks a wheel when I was in Las Vegas. Usually do my own anyway but at $10 I figured I'd save the chance of a pinch flat... da Vermonster> By the way, the Dunlop was 39.95 at Apex Sports in Colo Springs, but I removed and replaced the wheel in their parking lot - and mount/balance was $30. >

narrow rim story ends
Hi Vermonster!
I thought it was a lot. My usual mount/balance place, Faster Motorsports here in Denver, charges $15 for tubeless and $20 for tubed (off the bike, o'course), which always seemed reasonable to me.
For some reason, the K750 needed lots of balancing weight, glued to the rim AND on two spokes, making me suspicious that the heavy or light spot, whichever it is, was mounted 180-out.
All that said, Apex Sports seemed to me to be a friendly, capable shop. They had a wall of tires and huge selection of everything in the parts department....and what looked like hundreds of motorcycles in stock.
After I got the tire, I rode up Pikes Peak. It's about 20 miles up a winding half paved, half dirt road. Starts about 6500ft and ends up way up there above the tree line. Cold as hell and windy at the top, even in July.
Costs ten bucks for one person. It was fun on the KLR but there were dozens of HD dressers and Wings up there - an adventurous ride, I'd say.

Depends. At Box elder Forks, there is a campground host to collect your fees. At Black Fox there is just an honor pay box, so if the ranger doesn't happen by, I guess it could be free. Dunno about the other NF campgrounds. I don't think there is any fee for camping outside the designated campgrounds, but then, I'm not sure it's permitted either.> > Maybe some of you can help me out.
