supermoto front fender: acerbis or ktm?

Post by terranova22 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 12:40 am

Does anyone know which front fender works/fits best for he KLR? Also, is there just one from each company, or would i need to ask for a specific one that has the best fit? Thanks!

I'm curious, also. The OEM red fender looks almost faded - even new - compared to the glossy red finish on the fairing and fuel tank of the 09'. I am tempted to get a black OEM fender. But, they are about $90. eddie

Acerbis *makes* the KTM fender. Mine has both the KTM logo and the Acerbis logo on it. Look for one to fit a SX/EXC/MXC 125-525cc from 1998-2002 and you will get this one: http://johnbiccum.smugmug.com/gallery/2549433_oDHwZ#136748326_yTPr6-A-LB . Expect to pay about 25 or so dollars. (The mud is extra charge.) UFO Makes a supermoto type fender also. Fred at Arrowhead Motorsports used to sell these for the KLR. I assume he still does. I acually bought two of these but never installed them. They are new in the box. If anybody is interested, I would probably sell one. Color is black.

The UFO fender has been out of stock for many months but they just arrived here yesterday. I have many shipping out today and have a few left over. I am going to be out of the shop the rest of the week but if you'd like to order one, you can do that online on my Parts Pages. First come first served. Fred

I have installed a fender from a 1981 Kawasaki 1000. It has a strong reinforcement in the center That acts as somewhat of a fork brace. It is attached with (2) 2 3/4 inch muffler clamps (5/16" not 3/8"). I cut out the saddle of the clamp untill it is the same as the outter diameter of the fork leg, and install the flat side between the fender and the fork leg. Paint it sliver. Strong. Atractive. It covers more of the tire and acts as better fender. Use ny-lock nuts. A rubber mudflap can be attached if desired, for additional coverage. Yes, it does weigh a bit more than plastic.

Keith, I'm from NW AR but have not heard of any dealers that rent KLRs. The most likely place would be http://www.billeddysmotorsports.com/%c2%a0 This is in Fayetteville, which is about 25 miles West of here. Robert Waters Huntsville, AR klr rental Posted by: "hobbhavnklr650" hobbhavn@... hobbhavnklr650 Mon Jun 1, 2009 6:06 pm (PDT) Looking at doing a tour of my stomping grounds in Arkansas this fall, fishing all the favorite holes in the Ozarks. I would love to do it on my klr, but being in Idaho now, its too far away to do the entire trip on mine. Can you rent KLRs at dealerships or tour operators? Anyone know of an outfit that does in the general area? Thanks. Keith Idaho KLR http://www.billeddysmotorsports.com/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
