My 2008 bike is currently Not Running, at least in part because the wiring harness chafed through at the front edge of the gas tank, RH side -- and (I suspect) shorted the kill-switch wire to ground when the handlebars are in the midships position. Had I known then what I know now, I would have wrapped some duct tape or Real Chafe Protector (tm) around the wire bundle at the point where it emerges from under the tank -- and turning the handlebars back and forth would then erode the Chafe Protector instead of the sheath, the insulation, and the kill-switch wire. Live and learn. On the other hand, bike also (when thoroughly warmed up) refuses to run at anything less than 5K rpm. I came home the other night from a test ride at 5K+ rpm and it wasn't all that much fun. Actually it was *fun* but not as peaceful as I wanted. So I may also have, e.g., a Valve Problem ... dunno yet. I doubt if this is related to the Wiring Harness issue but in the interest of full disclosure, &c ...
