steering head bearings

I am using the tapered roller bearings from All Balls. Been in the bike for about 5 years and never needed readjustment. I keep checking them for looseness but they still feel like new. Part # 22-1009 for the kit, about $35 from any Parts Unlimited or Tucker Rocky dealer.

Has anyone in the group mounted a hard plastic rifle case to their KLR? In the past I have just strapped the case across the luggage rack, but I'm looking for a better way. My local Honda dealer has a good sale on Kolpin 6.0 gun boots, made to mount on ATVs. I'm trying to figure a way to mount one on my KLR .
