Arden:
Shoei s are good helmets, but they kill my forehead
after a couple of hours......
Ditto, I remember having raspberries on my forehead
after four and five hour rides and the accompanying
headaches. Everyone used to say it looked like I got
hit with a ball peen hammer. The Arai Signet GT solved
it for me. :>

All this talk of helmets has made me think of the helmet removal
bladders that came out a number of years ago and I haven't heard
anything more about their availability. I searched and can find patent
info but nothing on buying them. I have seen them in use during
motocross and road races on Speed TV so they must still be around.
Anybody have anymore information?

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not yelling and screaming like the people in his car...> 1.6. If you're gonna go....

A SEX-MAD Russian died after guzzling a bottle of Viagra pills to
keep him going for a 12-hour orgy with two women pals.
The women had bet mechanic Sergey Tuganov 3,000 that he wouldn't be
able to satisfy them both non-stop for the half-day sex marathon.
But minutes after winning the wager, the randy 28-year-old dropped dead
with a heart attack, revealed Moscow police.
One of the women, named only as Alina, said: "We called emergency
services but it was too late, there was nothing they could do."

Reading some of the responses to this, has got me thinking about my Grandkids. It would be horrible to miss out watching them grow up.
I think it's time for a new helmet. Definetly open face.
I still won't wear it putting around on secluded dirt roads, but anytime I am going to be around civilization, I believe I will.
I agree Grey. I hate helmet / seat belt laws. They are just money makers for the state. If they really cared about our well being, then school buses would have seat belts.

I've seen several stone dead guys with helmets on, but even more without helmets. I haven't seen broken necks with helmets, but have no doubts it could happen. Biggest factor is what you run into when you are sliding down the road. Those white reflector posts, for example, will cut you in half. I would say good boots are by far the most important equipment. I've seen far more mangled feet than anything else. Still creeps me out a bit when I see someone riding with tennis shoes. I do wear a helmet almost all the time, and do think it's important for safety, but the real reason I wear it is the opposite from what someone said. I wear a full face helmet (with the shield removed in summer) because of the noise. I never noticed it when I was younger, before helmet laws, but I can't hear shit without a helmet. Over 25 mph, all I get is roaring wind noise. With the helmet I can hear the bike and everything else. Weird that it's not the same for everyone. Maybe our ears are different. Still hate helmet laws though. You should be able to skip it if you're putting around a park or moving 50 yards down the roadside to get a better picture. I have only been in a plane once in my 50 years.
To my good fortune, it was a 1937 Steerman bi-plane (open cockpit of course)
It was a trainer plane with front and back cockpits. It belongs to a rich farmer South East of my home. He preferred to fly from the back, so I got the front seat. An experience I will never forget.
