vendor friday rules ?

Post by Gavin Macfarlane » Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:49 pm

I am getting fed up all with the recent postings regarding Happy Trails. Don't get me wrong I believe Happy Trails to be one of the good guys, but out of one persons 59 postings to this list since December, Happy Trails is there in 20 of them. I believe that the Vendor Friday rules are being somewhat flouted. -- Gavin Broadford Victoria Australia KLR650A18 DL650K6 Home of the DSN-KLR650 searchable archive at:- http://dsnklr650.gavinmac.com

Gavin, I do apologize that I have offended you. Could you have been a little more DISCREETE?! But, check other posts as well and you will find a lot of other "Vendors" mentioned as well. Should ALL emails that mention a vendor by name be isolated to Fridays only? If someone wishes to post a question regarding the opinion of other members the best place to purchase parts and accessories, then everyone is free to mention who they have had good luck with be it HT or KLR650.net or whomever else. Thank you to everyone else. Your advice and suggestions have helped me learn allot. If I don't feel that I can freely express my opinion as everyone else does than this list has outlived its usefulness to me. Fred, I hope you understand this is nothing personal against you and I hope to see you the next time I am down in Moab, UT. -Andy BIFBR Andyt59@... http://myweb.cableone.net/tbernard -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Gavin Macfarlane Sent: Thursday, March 09, 2006 8:50 PM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups. com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Vendor Friday rules ? That would only be the case if it was the actual vendor that was posting all of that. The idea if Vendor Friday is that this is the one and only day that vendors get to post things that are basically ads for their products. There is no prohibition against happy customers. We as a group can and should tell about the positive and negative of the various vendors that we deal with. P.S. I have not yet read the recent posts about happy trails, so I am not speaking about that, just talking about the general rules. -- Doug Herr doug@...

Doug, " The idea if Vendor Friday is that this is the one and only day that vendors get to post things that are basically ads for their products." Thank you for clarifying that about "Vendor Friday." Thank God I'm not a vendor. -Andy (Currently nervous about voicing his opinion) -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Doug Herr Sent: Friday, March 10, 2006 6:48 AM To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Vendor Friday rules ?

Hey Andy, You can voice your opinion all you want, but I too have noticed that you appear as a bit of a shill for your father-in-law (HT). I'd probably do the same if it kept me in good with my gal's father. It's one thing to mention pleasure with a purchase, but, although you're not a shareholder or employee, you have a personal attachment to the specific company in question. Mark (a satisfied previous HT customer)

That Andy guy is nothing but trouble :) A short ride report from Oregon: Me and my HAPPY friends took our bikes on some TRAILS. It was so much fun we decided to call the single track system the HAPPY TRAILS system. We rode up and down the HAPPY TRAILS all day long. Man, we were HAPPY on them TRAILS. Hence the reason we called them HAPPY TRAILS. All we have do now is buy some HAPPY TRAIL equipment, next time we go riding along the HAPPY TRAILS Dave Happy in Oregon http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Oregon_DSR

I take full credit for initiating another string of messages about satisfaction with Happy Trails products. I felt I had something relevant to add to the singularity (my opinion) and posted it post haste. My perception was that vendors were to make an effort to not blatantly advertise on days other than Fridays, and that their ads needed an NKLR Vendor Friday in the subject. My post was in reference to HT products as purchased for and installed on my KLR and other non-HT products a local KLR owner had in his grimy mitts. If people aren't going to post messages such as mine, or Andy's helpful/insightful/inciteful posts referencing the family business on any days but Fridays (I'm now an HT shill of sorts too, I guess), then I will probably only end up filtering everything but Friday posts because this is where I go to learn about the gear. If somebody makes a set of racks/widgets/whatever that is as good as, nearly as good as or better than the Happy Trails stuff, I want to know about it. For now, though, it looks like the HT stuff is the best value for the KLR, which happens to be the best value in motorcycles, imho. Sorry for the rant. I'm home ill with an ill child and not in a very good mood... Peace and love to all... ;) John

(I'm now an HT shill of sorts too, I guess), Me too since Tim picked up my breakfast check in Moab. The again I'm easy. BTW Rev. Tim blessed motorcycles one Sunday morning at at least one of the rallies. Since he's a Protestant he did this without holy water - pretty impressive. Bogdan
