help....lurching...it's back
Ok rode today and the lurching came back. Seems to do it from 4500 RPM in
all gears.
Rode HARD this past weekend and had no problems at all. Started today after
ambient temps got up around 80. It was cooler than that all weekend and it
was warm when it started doing it last week. Engine temp seems to stay
around the middle of the gauge.
I'm at a loss. Please HELP....
Here is a recap of the original problem
93 KLR with 45,000 miles

Now that really sound like petcock pulsing or cap vent.
petcock pulsing I think would be from a bad petcock hose to carb/head
boot or not-so good petcock vac diaghram.

Some people believe problems like yours occur because the gas line between the petcock and carb gets too hot. I've seen a klr with insulation rapped around that line. I've also heard that some in-line gas filters can cause lurching. Are you running with one of these ? Could it be improper vacuum in the petcock ? You could defeat the vacuum feature in the petcock by taking out the spring and other stuff and installing a solid gasket. You could make one out of just about any plastic. We fashioned one out of a tab on a key ring. Good luck, Bogdan> Ok rode today and the lurching came back. Me again. Before I'd do anything else I'd conduct two simple tests. Put a spare key in the gas cap. When the lurching starts open the cap to see if that helps. No filter. I opened the gas cap and it did nothing to help it. Have not
tried the choke thing yet.
The last time I had the tank off I did disconnected it from the top of the
carb instead of the top of the petcock wonder if I did anything that may
have moved the fuel line closer to a heat source?
I'll look at that closer and check out the petcock as well.

Anyone have experience with the Acerbis Rally D/S handguards with
integrated turn signals?
Sold by Dual Star.
How good are the turn signals? Visibility? Wiring etc.?
Thanks,
Rob
