are the forks of a 87 model good for an 89 model?

The owner of the lot/closed store still pays property taxes and insurance. He is liable for public use of his property and has taken the precaution to post his opposition to casual use of his property by the public. The towing co. is making a living and sees $$ and probably is under contract with the owner. Money is already spent and she is caught up in the steam. I think her chances of getting out of this are slim to none. Just my opinion. --Jim A-15

Hello, I have an 87 klr with engine problems, and just saw an ad for an 89 model with bent fork and front wheel, but in perfect working order otherwise. I am considering buying it (it's cheap) and just transfering the forks and wheel from the old one, and keep that for parts. Would that be possible? Any major changes bewteen the 87 and 87 models? Anything else I should look for? Could the frame of the 89 have gotten damage in the accident that bent the forks? How do I check for frame damage?
