Would any one know the best rear tire to put on my KLR650. I do almost all highway miles but still want to be able to hit the trails when I want to.. My dunlpos only lasted one year. any suggestions? Thanks,

When it comes to oil, politics, religion, AND tires, there is never a clear winner or one that can be considered the "best." I can, however, make a recommendation from my own experience, but whether they are the "best choice" for you is something that you will have to (eventually) decide on your own. Personally, for my type of riding in this neck of the, uh - woods, I prefer the Continental TKC80. It's a 50/50 tire that really works well on the street, and pretty decent in the rough stuff. My previous one lasted approx. 8000 miles, 90% of which was street riding. Of course, if you ask another owner you will get an entirely different opinion. Hope this helps. ONLY one year? I'm happy if I can go a whole riding season (about 10,000 miles) on one rear tire. The only off-road capable tire that has ever done that for me is a Kenda K270. I have come close on a Cheng Shin 858, which handles better. I would need two or three TKC80s to get through a season, and four MT21s. The Dunlop D606 is a great tire which will out last the Conti or the Pirelli.

I have a Corbin dished and really like it. This afternoon when I pulled my battery, I noticed that if you aren't careful you can mount the seat with the front tab in-between the gas tank and the frame where the tank bolts are. It needs to go under the frame to seat properly. I've read posting about the fit of Corbins being bad, this is what I found this afternoon. The holes line up for the bolts but the front of the seat is never allowed to settle onto the frame because the tab holds it up. This leaves a gap of about a 1/4 inch between the seat and the tank. It's very noticeable. I've had the seat off several times and this was the 1st time it got in this slot. I have a Wolfman tail bag that I normally take off when messing with the bike, I left it on this time and I guess the steeper angle made it hit the wrong slot 1st. Pulled it back off and mounted it correctly and it looks like it was made for it.LOL John A-18 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
