I filled the bars with cheap win dow caulking. Works like a hot damn. Make sure you get it filled all the way. DC

You'll have to replace the grips. I am the worst mechanic in the world, and I can do it so can you. To remove the old grips you need a razor, and scrape of the old grips (factory gluue is tough stuff. a small cheese grater helps get rid of the last little bit. If you off road at all, I would urge you to buy Maeir Woods hand guards to replace the stock (if you hit a branch with stock protectors, the protector itself will break your hand!), if you do, you need to buy open ended grips. If not, when you replace the grips, just use a tube of grip glue from your local bike shop or your wifes hair spray. Make sure the left side goes on the left and the right on the right (made that mistake the first time. It is a bitch to get them on, but work fast and hard and you will have no problem. After you have the buckshot in, squirt a little silicone in to keep shot from sloshing around. Sean --- Luc Legrain wrote:

You do not need to replace the grips. I cut a small hole in the left grip (can't do it on the right due to the throttle) and put the bike on its right side. Took a funnel and poured a bunch of bird shot into the hole. When the bars were full I wadded up some paper and stuck it in the hole and then used some black electrical tape over the end of the grip where the hole was, viola........ Several weeks later however I determined that I wanted to change the grips to something more comfortable so I wound up tearing off the old grips anyway. I suggest doing a gripectechmy at the same time if you think you may want new ones. Craig A18 San Jose CA

Take off the grips. Why would you want to drill anything? I filled a piece of 1/2 inch conduit with molton lead and tapped it into the bar end. It made absolutely no difference in the mirror image. I quickly removed them.

Any problems with the shot interfering with the throttle? If stock there should be nothing in there (BTW you can't push in on the throttle side end of the grip as under the grip there is the plasitc from the throttle) so when you put in the lead shot it goes in the other end and there really is no way that it can mess with the throttle.
