noab
I'm back in Philly after quite the adventure tour to NOAB. You can see
some snaps at: http://legalmac.com/motodiary/noab/noab.html> At the
end you will see some pix of my foot. During a river crossing, the
bike ended up on top of me--or more specificially, on top of my left
ankle and foot. Since these pictures were taken the swelling as
increased a bit, and the bruising continues to darken. But from all
the first aid books I read, so long as the bruising isn't over the
joint, there's probably no broken bits. Plus, Millerized assured me
that if I can walk on it, it ain't broken. I'll just have to buy left
shoes in size 15 instead of the usual 10 1/2.
NOAB was a blast. Great people, a fantastic host, amazing scenery,
great weather, great food, and a great ride. We did about 70 miles of
trails and 30 miles of two lane highway (or that's my best guess
because, in addition to some other damage, my speedo cable fell out and
I lost some mileage).
This was my first offroad riding, so I was underequipped. Next year,
motocross boots!
Thanks to all who helped to make it a great first time, especially
Mark, my pal Millerized, and Mr. Moose. Can't wait for next year!

P.S. Zack, I still have a "Dual Star exclusive" sticker for you.

weekend update
Did a little dual-sport'n this weekend. A buddy from Tehachapi, CA on his
Transalp took me around some of his favorite local spots. For you pavement
jockeys, the ride between Caliente and Bodfish is something very special.
Here is a link to it if you are ever in the area. Many 2nd gear corners, on
a narrow but well maintained road. Rode it coming and going. Neat little
general store/biker hangout at the top of Walker Basin.

Also meet a guy at a gas station in Rosamond (near Edwards A.F base) who
told me his buddy has a KLR with 170,000 miles! on it. He said "he rides it
everywhere." Yep.

Frank-
My cuz, bro, pops, Millerized is prolly right........just a sprain, not
broken. The right fitting and most comfortable personal protective gear is
more important than tweaks and mods to your bike.
Speedy recovery and welcome to the KLR family.
