I just happened to order mine from the Aerostich catalog (CAT. NO. 1895) but I imagine Fred and a host of others carry them too. Mine is kind of mounted upside down, the thumb lever is pointing straight down and I can flip it on/off without moving my hand at all. I drilled a small screw into the throttle housing and then popped a small screw in to keep it from rotating (a bit of loctite keeps it in there) I'm also thinking about getting a Throttle Rocker (www.throttlerocker.com) jim

I like my Throttle Rocker, which is neither a lock nor cruise control. It's easy to install, easy to remove, and easy to spin out of the way on the grip. It allows me to release my grip while holding a throttle setting. The one thing it doesn't allow is taking your hand off the bar. I got a "Vista Cruz" from Arrowhead Fred, simple installation. Does exactly what it is supposed to, it locks the throttle at any given point. It is easy to override manually. Allows me to flex the right hand so that it doesn't get sore. I did the 3 Flags rally without one, total of 8200 km, then installed the thing. The next two 3 Flags Rallies were a lot easier. I tried the Vista Cruise universal, but it takes up too much room and leaves my hand cramped for space. So it's on my brother's KLR now. Currently I'm using a small 99cent bungee cord. The cord is looped over the handguard and then through the small gap between the throttle side grip and the housing. The friction is enough to keep the throttle in whatever position I set it in. It's still easy enough to turn the throttle, to adjust speed on the interstate. Note, if your bungeee doesn't have enough pull to keep the throttle locked inposition, you can adjust the tension in the bungee by simply tieing a few knots in the slack section (not where it fits into the throttle grip gap). Riding in town or on trails, I just pop the bungee out of the gap and leave it just to the left of the throttle housing. Easy on- easy off. There's a comprehensive write up of the installation somewhere, once you have it mounted it's a done deal. Vista Cruise = Cheap, simple, and useful. Just like a KLR!

Yeah, a metal strap going from the swingarm bolt down to the footpeg pin. Regardless of how thick you make the mounts, with the existing design you're either going to continue to strip them out (/bend bolts) or you're going to bend the actual footpeg arm itself. Z DC A5X A12X
