transport question: got a nklr finally
speaking of earplugs & wind noise...
I use E-A-Rsoft Blasts. They are NRR33 and are the most comfortable
and effective I've found. You can even try some for free.

I have no connection with these people, I just like their product.
The air blast hits me right in the middle of the face shield. I
would like to get the blast directed up about 4 or 5 inches higher.
Mostly so that the bugs will go over my head instead of right in my
shield. I've considered extending the oem w/s a few inches, but
there seems to be as much wind coming from around the sides of the
w/s. The wind from the top and sides seem to join together right at
my shield. I think that if I raised the w/s, it would just make the
air more turbulent because of the mixing with the air from the side.
I have tried the larger Kawasaki w/s, but the turbulence gave me a
headache.
Anybody have any suggestions? Other than removing the w/s - tried
that, didn't work for me.

Since you already have the taller Kawasaki windshield, you might try this.
There are five mounting points on this windshield. Take the three middle
mounting points and install the OEM stepped nuts so that the smaller
diameter of the stepped nuts fit inside the windshield mounting holes. This
will allow this windscreen to now be adjustable. Take the two outside
mounting points and slip the notches of the windscreen on top of this
mounting point instead of under it. You can move this mounting point either
above, below or on top of the welded nut that attaches to the fairing frame.
This gives you three windscreen angles so that maybe one of them will fit
your needs.
Let me know if this works for you.

Da- yum Fred, you are da man! Great idea!
I had to wait until a rake that fell off of a landscape truck and broke my
tall windshield before I used a similar nut configuration. Mine, however,
consists of a few 3" fender washers, garden hose rubber washers, 1/4" nuts
and bolts. Still adjustable, not very pretty; and 'cause I am too cheap to
buy another one, still functional. But after all, it is a 'Malibu Ken KLR'
... it can't get any uglier ... unless it was red!

At 5'9" and a 32" inseam the Clearview +9 Windshield did the trick
for me. Instead of the wind blast hitting me in the shield, it now
touches just the top of my helmet, significantly reducing wind
noice, and because the Clearview is flared, my jacket stays alot
cleaner.

"and because the Clearview is flared, my jacket stays alot cleaner."
Hey Joe, a few bugs on your jacket adds character and makes it look like you
ride. When someone says something about the bugs on my jacket, I point to
them one at a time and say, This one is from Key West, this one is from
Fairbanks, this one is from Maryland, SoCal etc.
You missed a good ride at Arikaree Breaks Saturday. Great ride and beautiful
weather.

transport question: got a nklr finally
Thanks again all for the suggestions, the overwhelming majority just
tie 'er down and it's fine. I've got the tie-down points and the
ratchet straps so I'll be all set....if I have to. The seller has
offered to deliver it so even luckier for me.
The suggestion to put on a pair of flip flops, tie twine around the
frame like a backpack and just climb it on up still sounds plausable.
