I recently stripped out the threaded part of the frame where the footpeg bolts on. Some years ago, on this list, I read about someone who had an easy solution to this problem. Now I can't find it, did anyone else have this problem? What was your solution? Jeffrey Bryn Miami, Florida

BTW - my footpeg bolts were *very* loose. They should be checked often. Pat

Don't know of the other solution, but mine is helicoil inserts. Cost me $20 to have a shop install them when a hard crash on a rock stripped them out. You can use the passenger peg in the mean time, but it gets to your knee after a while. -Bryan

Mine stripped too when I installed a centerstand and the supplied bolt were too long. I used a helicoil kit from my local NAPA parts store and a drill bit from lowes. All is A-OK now. Kurt Thomas NAS Patuxent River, MD KLR-650

Yea this happened to me too. Tried retapping to a larger size, only to have it happen again. Helicoil is the solution. Mine came out the other day too. Man I'm glad I wasn't in the middle of a jump. Or standing up to stretch my legs. All I did was rethread the hole, went to ace hardware and bought the strongest metric bolt they carried and lockwashers and installed them with locktight. Seems to work so far. and I just went out today muddin and jumpin. There still tight. Everyone needs to check those suckers every so oftan!!!! Van
