Harry: You know, your post sounded kind of sarcastic to me. Colorado really did have a lot of damage this summer which caused a lot of grief. - No, the trails will not have recovered from the fire damage by next year. More like 20-40 years. - Many people lost their entire life savings due to that fire. - It was a single forest service person, not multiple. - There are plenty of other great areas to ride that were not affected. I'd suggest the Gunnison area as a base. tom, from colorado ------------- Message: 6 Date: Sat, 05 Oct 2002 00:03:29 -0400 From: Harry Thames Subject: Re: NKLR: KLR Rally Idea Speaking on behalf of the East Coast branch of the KLR List: Colorado is suitable to us. Its an easy day's ride from here and with the moderate altitudes we shouldn't have to re-jet or re-gear. Will your trails have recovered from the fire damage caused by your female park rangers by next year? Buena Vista would be another. Twisty asphalt not far off, trails and Jeep roads abound, there is a cool riding area called Seven Mile, and loads of mining towns to explore. Speaking of mining towns, does anyone know if St. Elmo burned completely or just some of the buildings? Swede

Welcome to the list, and congrulations on your KLR. As far as I know the only manual you can get is from the factory. Clymer, or Clinton is rumored to have one coming out either this year or next. You best bet is to go the KLR Tech tips section, and the FAQ sight at the end of each post. Chris Krok has excellent information about most common problems, so uypu can biuld your own manual like I did. Really good stuff. Welcome again and good luck, Dave wgmcham@... wrote:newby to the group; hey fellow listers, just got a 1986 klr 600, seems to be in good condition. need ya lls help. would like to be able to get a manual for this bike, where i can work on it, been a shade tree mechanic most of my life ,where can i get one of these manuals?also the back brakes indicator shows a lot of brake but not very good, an help in this area would be wonderful; i have a dennis kirk catalog i need chain back and front sprocket; can i get these from fred? do these bikes have the same doohickey or are they stronger? i read earlier about someone restoring their plastic /appreciate some tips. my wife & i have really enjoyed reading this list for about 6 months. been saving for this bike for a while, im 53 wt 165, 5'9" my wife is 5'1 and 120+ lbs of beauty, plus shes the only one that knows how to type(grin), what do you tork the back tire blts at/ thanks for the help, any help on the 600 would be great! big mac klr!
