Listers,

Just came in from the garage, where I put on my new Superbrace. Went on
very easily. Seems like a good product and this weekend I plan to put it to
the test. I look forward to experiencing the improved handling.

However, seeing it on the bike, I immediately share the same concerns others
have had about the brace exposing the fork seals to more dust and water. In
fact, I'm a bit surprised that the brace "well" has no apparent way to drain
water. Now it seems that the well will gather water to mix with the extra
dust that gets in, forming a thin mixture that will effectively wet sand the
fork seals, eroding their ability to do their job. It would seem that the
manufacturer didn't quite think the design through all the way.

I've read the fix using silicone. This will probably work. I've also heard
about aquarium tubing, but haven't figured out how to do that.

What I'd like, were this a perfect world, is for the Superbrace folks to
make this right. I know Fred has talked to them and they may be redesigning
the brace, but an upgrade kit to solve the problem for those of us with the
old model, free, would make me feel a bit better about the whole thing.

I will get a pic of the tubing fix posted to our files section by this
weekend. Had meant to have it done by now.
Camera batteries are on charge at moment for friends wedding shoot tonight.

This is resolved in the "new & improved" model you've just got in right
 Fred?

Can't offer any help on repairing the threads, but I'm glad to hear you are
 OK.

Glad to hear everything turned out relatively well.
