stupid parking lights
Yes, I left my parking lights on this morning. Fortuantly one of my
co-workers noticed and saved my battery. I guess there really is an
advantage to being the only rider at work.

Is there any reason to keep this system operable and is there an easy way to
 defeat it?

Going for a long ride tonight to charge things up

How hard is it to bump start a KLR? I was thinking with the auto
decompressor it should be easier than say, my SR500 (which has to be put in
2nd and backed up against compresison first).

Has anyone done this, what gear did you use, etc...

2nd gear, friend (female) pushing from behind a bit, stand on pegs, drop
butt hard on seat and let out clutch at same time.

What they said, except you can do it yourself with the help of
gravity if you're on a little incline. Push like crazy downhill, jump
on and release the clutch when your butt hits the seat. Don't do this
if you can't jump onto the seat safely. And don't jump on sidesaddle
unless you've got good medical insurance and high pain tolerance.

My KLR push starts pretty easy. I have done it many times when I
could take advantage of a hill that just happened to be were I
stopped. I use 2nd gear. Mine seems to start real easy from a slow
 roll.

I haven't spent any time on it, but one should be able to disassemble the ignition switch and remove the contact responsible for the damned parking light being left on.

Anyone know if I am right or wrong?

Looking at the wiring diagram it doesn't look that easy. Everything is tied
together. I still havn't heard a solution. Somebody suggested installing a
switch to bypass park mode; looking at the diagram is not helping me find a
place to put it. I may just hvae to get smarter than the bike.
