roadless initiative-question

A dozen or so years ago my then 13 yr old son suddenly went on a "don't use/waste paper campaign" around our house. When I queried him as to the reason for this sudden interest(which I didn't think was a bad idea), he told me it was because his science teacher had told his class that we were almost out of trees. My refuting this fact made no impression whatsoever; after all a "teacher" had said it was so and I did not press the issue. The following Saturday I took my son up in my plane and asked him to look and decide for himself if we were "almost out of trees". He arrived at the obvious conclusion that there are plenty of trees. A few months later this same science teacher told my sons class that the Whitetail deer was almost extinct. He knew better than that and tried to tell the teacher that it wasn't so to no avail. I then called this teacher up telling her that I frequently flew both forestry and wildlife officers and that if she didn't believe me about the state of trees and deer, I'd be happy to bring her documentation or have one of the officials call her. Her attitude was "Please don't bother me with facts, I know I'm right". Just my experience with an environ"mental" educator(?). But what the heck do I know, I ride a KLX.
