TC for sale

Post by Jeff Fields » Wed May 08, 2013 6:54 am

If someone is looking for an easier project, than the one on ebay, it is most likely in Solon, OH [east side of Cleveland]. Bob Gecsi, who is not on the list due lack of computer skills, is selling TC 8178 exu. The car is BRG with tan interior. It has not been driven for 3 years due to starter and brake problems. Bob is a long time owner, member of NEMGTR and the Ohio Chapter. He is asking $20K. Call him at 440-289-1497 Email Mrs G at bnsgecsi@sbcglobal.net

tc for sale

Looks like a nice one for a reasonable price        1948 MGTC 6973 / XPAG 7797 Image Click here for more photos
A very sad time for me has come at last. I must confess that I do not drive Daddy s TC anymore and she is very unhappy just sitting. Silver Streak has been in my life since 1952, I was six years old. I grew up in the boot! You may remember Silver Streak as 1948 MGTC 6973- XPAG 7797 pewter/red. She is a lovely old girl and still gives us a run for our money when we do get her out for a short jaunt.
We would love to find a loving, driving home for her and hope you will share this news with interested parties. We are asking $25k. She was completely restored in 1980 by Glen Binford and friends (:->) She has always been garaged and covered and comes complete with Whitworth tools, luggage rack, leather suitcase and antique picnic box (also leather) with implements.
For additional information  call me at 360 652 0363
Thank you,
Pamela Binford-Grudin

To my unschooled eye it seems the scuttle is the wrong colour and the tranny is painted. Due to these serious resto flaws I think this example is over valued. I'd be willing to relieve the obviously embarassed owner of this travesty for a small consideration. I'll even pay for the shipping....

And they painted the oil pan!!  (Gasp!)  This car was built the same day as my TC5308 (4/22/1948).  Interestingly, my car has XPAG 5993, while the TC built before it ended up with XPAG 5994.   In a message dated 12/31/2013 5:31:03 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, arm@telus.net writes:

For that price, it's a TC that can't be driven (except by somebody who could afford to burn the resto cost).  Too bad.

Yep, we really do need two TCs: one to drive and enjoy, and one to worry about...
