The material is a big part of the equasion. Also, the design of the rear of the crank/block area on the MGB and on
Volvos is very different. I just finished building a big-bore 2-litre for Bella's 122S and took a good look at the
arrangement. The seal is consantly flushed with fresh oil, which has a good path back out to the sump. The Moss kit
makes no provision for this, since the slinger ring is retained on the crank and the only drain is the small hole at the
bottom. The majority of the oil is flung off of the crank before it reaches the seal. Then it has to make it through
the little passage, hopefully manages to get splashed onto the seal, then piddles out the little hole at the bottom. No
wonder they cook. Oil seals need oil to live. B's and Volvos lubricate the seal. The Moss kit only barely does.
