Rich Carb

Here is a puzzle. The rear carb is running rich.  The two rear plugs are black. The front carb is running normal.  The front two plugs are light tan.

 

The float bowls in both carbs have been carefully adjusted to spec. The jets in both are centered, both pistons rise and fall cleanly.  The needles in both are GL (lean).

 

Air flow between both is equal. The manifold has been checked for leaks.

 

Any ideas?

#ygrps-yiv-1376419186 P {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;} You say you have adjusted the floats but I take that to mean that you have adjusted the clearance between the hinged lever that actuates the float jet (or Grose jet) and the lid. Remove the rear float and shake it to see if there is gasoline inside. Peter it is also possible that if the horizontal bar between the 2 brass arms is out of adjustment it prevents the choke from fully coming off.   Here is a puzzle. The rear carb is running rich.  The two rear plugs are black. The front carb is running normal.  The front two plugs are light tan.

 

The float bowls in both carbs have been carefully adjusted to spec. The jets in both are centered, both pistons rise and fall cleanly.  The needles in both are GL (lean).

 

Air flow between both is equal. The manifold has been checked for leaks.

 

Any ideas?
