Yes it was Automatic. There was a difficult period when a recall repair was required but the factory did not keep up with the parts orders. And then they had a strike. It took nearly a year to satisfy all the owners. BUT THE CAR IS A JIM DANDY. I drove one for nearly 100000 miles and when we sold it the guy who got it painted over the freckles and drove it for a further 4 years around Cleveland. I would not figure it to be a collectible but certainly worth having as a second vehicle in your stable. Don't think anything about them was the same as anything else. . . .but several labels were applied in England to the same chassis and engine design. . . I was there at the time.

Hi all,
I am afraid to say I have never heard of this one at all and I
served an Engineering Apprenticeship, saying that we had some weird
calculations to do to calculate for screw cutting on the really old lathes,
that required gears to be changed.

Hi gang
More than a few years ago, when I was at school, I remember being force to
recite Mr Whitworth's formula that he devised for relating the diameter of
one of his bolts to the A/F dimension of its corresponding nut. I can't for
the life of me remember the formula now, nor can I find it in Machinery's
Handbook or anywhere on the web.
As best as I can remember it went something like:
A/F = (O.D. x 1.25 + 1/8) inches.
Thus the A/F dimension of a 5/16 bolt should be 0.3125 x 1.25 + 0.125, or
0.516 inches.
This formula seems to get into the right ballpark each time, but modern
practice seems to vary. Does anyone know why? Surely just because poor old
Mr Whitworth turned his back somebody didn't get in there and fool around
with it did they?
