I'm Back.
This list has gotten so boring in recent days.
Who sells a socket to remove the old style rear axle bearing nut? You know,
the one with recessed edges. My axles have these with a seal installed. I
replaced the seals and put silicone in the axle and half-shaft hub union and
stopped the rear axle oil leak. But it occurs to me that I may need to
replace the seals on the other side of the bearing someday.
I find the recommendations to turn this nut with a chisel to be crude.
Do I have a commercial opportunity here?
Any better suggestions?

Crude but effective! Phil Marino who makes the nuts also makes a tool to fit
the nuts........I've heard that some 4WD sockets will work too......
I have one of Phil's tools and welded an old socket to it so as to make it
easier to use........

Try O'connor: I just got an 8-point 1-61/64ths socket from them, after
searching everywhere else in vain.
I'd consider them worth the try. Their specialty is restoration of T-types,
and they are a Moss dealer as well. Their 800-number is on the webite. Ask
for either Mike or Brian O'Connor.
Here's the site:

Good luck.

Hi out there,
I made a socket out of suitable steam pipe, cutting the castelations with a hacksaw. A hole was drilled for a tommy bar and this works well.
