This is actually not unusual.
I know many old "sports car people" who do not belong to any club. One has a
pre war Aston and a Frazer Nash, another has about 30 cars including a 120,
Cooper, SS100, Arnolt MG, etc. Another has a pre war Alfa, not to mention the
hoards or TR 3, Healey 100, and MG drivers that are motoring around with no
club affiliation.
I have never been to GoF and only recently joined my local Vintage MG Club
(after 9 years of T ownership and 29 years of MG ownership). Just joined
NAMGAR after 25 years of Twin Cam ownership and 14 years of Deluxe ownership.
My Bentley Continental is "unknown" to any club, and on and on.
I guess, and I speak only for myself, is that most club publications feature
members at various functions. I am not really interested in seeing images of
Joe Drutz, and how he has aged, during the 25 years-in-a-row he attended club
Christmas parties.
Also, if i joined every club for which I have a car two things would happen
-- the first is that I wouldn't have any money to run the cars, and second, I
wouldn't have any time to do anything as I would be spending all my time
reading the publications. This hobby take A LOT of time.
Just my .02 cents worth. And not even worth that.
I sincerely would be interested in other list members comments. Has their
club membership experience been positive or negative?
Now that I have re read this email, I think I'm just kind of grumpy.
Thanks

Membership in:
MASCDCS - meets once a month, in NYC, which is 1000 miles from my home
ERA Club - meets about once every 6 years, in the UK, as far as I can tell
Lake Drive 100 MPH Club - meets twice a year in Milwaukee
Interstate 90,185 MPH Club - sole member
Brooklands Society - meets in the UK
ACM - just because
Only the Brooklands Society feels the need to send out a publication. I must
thank the other clubs for not following suit.
