Wing (fender) fasteners
Can anyone advise the type, size and location for the fasteners holding TC
wings to the body tub.
My car has a new body tub and the wings have been repaired to the extent
that all the original fastener holes have disappeared.
In particular how many fasteners at the back of the front wing. Should these
be bolts through the wood and the body irons or just through the wood under
the door sill.
The running boards have three fasteners to the body, but again should these
fasteners pass through the body irons as well as the wood under the sill.
This would make a much stronger fixing if the fasteners can be made to line
up to go through the body irons. I am not sure that this can be done without
raising the rear of the front wing to the point where it interferes with the
edge of the bonnet (hood).
I seem to remember reading that the rear wings were originally held on just
with wood screws into wooden body frame. When I dismantled the old rotten
body tub the rear wings were bolted through the wheel arches (inner fenders)
as well as a few rusty wood screws into the body frame.

Re: Wing (fender) fasteners
Jim, My TC still has the running boards and right rear wing attached. I'll
check things later tonite. I know for a fact that the running boards are
bolted through the wood. My car has been off the road since 1961 so things
are in nice shape. Bob TC4946
