TC Radiator Slats Coatings and Colours

Does anyone know what the original colour for the radiator slats would have been for a TC with red exterior and beige interior trim. I understand that the radiator slats should match the colour of the interior trim. But how would I describe this colour when asking for a paint finish. The radiator slats are very prone to damage from stone chipping, which requires dismantling the whole radiator assembly to repair. Maybe powder coating or some other type of stone chip resistant finish would be better than paint. Any advice on suitable colour and type of finish would be very welcome. Regards Jim Chase

Jim; the slats should be the same color as the interior. I would go to an epoxy paint or an enamal with clear coat finish. If you have apiece of vinyl or leather to match to would help. Regards Malcolm castle

Jim, When I redid my grill I took a sample of the upholstery to a large auto parts retailer who had a good selection of "Duplicolor" spray tins and selected a very close match. (I don't have the tin here with me but I think it was a mid 80's Ford colour). I'm quite pleased with the colour and durability...so far. YMMV Ross -----Original Message----- Any advice on suitable colour and type of finish would be very welcome. Regards Jim Chase Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/
