Re: wheel hammer
I use nylon / leather hammer from simplex (type:amazonas 50). You can swap
both sides against new ones. The hammer is a little bit bigger than the Thor
 unit.
The nylon will " *thread with care" to the wheelnuts ( *said my dictionary

  ).

Hi out there
thanks for the input re rubber hammers. I'll make a lead one as described as I don't want problems nor damage to my new knock ons.

Re: wheel hammer
When we made lead hammers we'd swedge the end of the pipe before casting to
be sure the lump of lead wouldn't fly off. Bob TC4956

Re: wheel hammer
hi TABCers

i can t understand all the discussion about wheel nut hammer. i never would
let suffer my stub axles from an hammer.

the only useful and tender thing to my TC s hubs is the wooden wheel nut
 spanner you can get anywhere.

if somebody don t know how that looks i can send a drawing.

 best regards

Re: wheel hammer
Hi Walter,

Good concern! Best way to keep from unduly stressing stub axel is to tap
the knock-off on when the wheel is off the ground. Then when the wheel is
lowered to the ground and the car's weight is on the wheel I fully tighten
the knock-off with lead hammer. This way a large fraction of the impact is
transferred to the ground, through the wheel and tire.

 Cheers, Peter

Wheel hammer
I am still looking for a wheel hammer for a TC. This is the lead headed
small hammer. I don't care what condition as long as it is an original.
Most of these hammers have the lead badly mangled but I will recast the lead
head. Please let me know if anyone has an idea to locating one. Thanks for
 your help.

Re: Wheel hammer
Doug,
I have my original wheel hammer and the inserts are copper not lead. I
don't recall a lead hammers in any of the TC's I have seen over the years.
I've had my TC since 1956.

Doug:

I have to agree with John Patterson. The TC Service Parts List in fact describes it as "Copper-headed hammer", Part No.P330/117.
