Me too. I've always thought that the KLR seat was pretty
comfy....especially when compared to the Cagiva Elefant that I rode from
Daytona to Chicago.....now THAT is a BAD seat!!! I walked funny for
three days.....

What can you do about the seat on the KLR ? Man!! Ride around 150-200 miles and I feel like I need a butt cheeks implant or something ! I know the bike is rugged, that's why I bought it ,but still ,a little comfort for the long rides would be ok . Did I hear some people laughing ?
Couple of days ago I found this site for replacement pegs I can't remember the name , they also had those reduced vibrations mounting for mirrors ??

Compared to my other bikes, the seat on the KLR650 is quite cushy. Corbin makes a replacement for about $250.

Saddleman/Travelcade makes stiffer replacement foam with gel inserts for the
KLR. MSRP is $129. Or $110 on sale.

I took a trip up to Hollister CA to have Corbin custom
fit a saddle to my butt.. Changed the bike from a 1-2
hr in the saddle to an all day bike. Best mod for me
so far.

I bought a used Corbin flat seat for the KLR. It was as hard as a rock but
surprisingly was not bad to sit on all day. I used it for a trip to Daytona
Bike week.
However for off road riding (the reason i bought the KLR) it was too wide
at the front effectively making the KLR taller and it's a tall bike to
begin with. It was hard to get my feet on the ground in some off road
conditions and made me a nervous off road rider.
Since i still had the stock seat I sent it to Sargent to have some changes
and installation of their Atomic foam. I specifically told them I wanted it
narrow at the front so I could touch my feet down.
The Sargent seat modifications were excellent. I can get my feet on the
ground and the foam is dense enough you can ride all day on it.
I'm very happy with the seat.
I was able to sell the Corbin for the same price as I bought it for.
You can buy Suzuki DR650 metal foot pegs that will fit right on the KLR.
I believe they are less expensive that the after market pegs and work quite
well.
Current prices from Ron Ayers Motorsports
http://www.ronayers.com/index.cfm
1 RH front footrest, 43550-44B10-019.......$13.84
1 LH front footrest, 43560-44B10-019........$13.84
2 springs, 09448-15008............................$1.01 each (you need two)
The Kawi pins work just fine.
hope this helps

I have the Suzuki DR650 pegs on my KLR and I like them a lot. Installation
was painless, and they seem transmit LESS vibration that the rubber coated
stockers. You can see the pegs here:

I am curious. Does anyone have experience with modifying a KLR seat to make
it longer to better accommodate two up riding? i.e. seat extension, pad,
auxiliary passenger seat, aftermarket?

I don't know about longer but a friend pulled the cover off and
reshaped his using a spray glue and carpet foam, plus put one of those
Walmart ATV covers on it. He and his wife ride 2 up on it and he is a
big guy. I think you would have to modify the seat panto make it longer.
