Hey Looking at a Gas saver that can pull a small trailer with 2 bikes. Too OFTEN I use my F250 to pull my 14ft alum row boat (motor) boat. But looking at, 2 bikes on an open trailer. (13mpg empty on a GOOD day, 8.5-10 Pulling a load. Camper 8.5mpg.) So what is Known as a good LITTLE puller, With GREAT(er) MPG? I know My ladies Ford escape gets around 22 pulling the Boat. (LIGHT) It's 22f and SNOWING for the 3rd day in Mich. If I trailered down about 300-500 miles (depending on weather) I can usualy drop and RUN farter south on the Bikes. The 6000 mile oil change interval is nice, specially when compared to the likes of KTM. I've heard tales of weeping water pump gaskets on the rotax but havnt seen that yet. Kevin

My take on it was that even the Terra, which is the more dirt oriented of the two, is still way more street oriented than a KLR. The motor is set up very lean to meet emissions and as such has a tendency to stall unless you wind it up off the line. > > As far as the reliability, there are hundreds of thousands of these motors on the road and I haven't seen any of them blow up personally. > > Has anyone? > > To my knowledge, Rotax singles are kind of like the Honda Civic of bike motors: Just put gas in it and go. > > I have a 08 TE 610, and the motor on that thing makes great power, but what a maintenance hog! Sheesh! Head gasket, clutch bushing, valve adjustment, valve cover gaskets, cracked radiator...Oy vey. > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
