extra tail lights?

More to it? Yes!! The guts of the blinkers MUST be changed or Modified. See "Big Cee" KLR facts, Under, Maintenance/mods procedures (Way down the page) and "converting the turn signals to 1157 ...... Or just google "1157/1157mod.html" (a short cut to the link)
