tkc80 question
Oil for a scout rifle? Scout rifles don't need no oil...or cleaning for that matter. However, if you use something thin and penetrating like wd40, be sure you get the bolt (internal&external), chamber and magazine thoroughly dry. It can penetrate unsealed primers and case mouths to provide interesting (and dangerous) mis-fires and hang-fires.

What oil are you using to lube your Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle? I am thinking about using wd-40 on mine... at least to clean off the grit.

"Oh please" indeed.
Yet I'd rather see a discussion about auxillary lighting, considering we're all spending more time with darkness this time of year. Not only the "being seen" side of lighting, but also the merits of reg-vs-HID-vs-LED, the harness & switches, fog, driving, white/amber/purple...LOL.
Then we could twist that into best lighting for a Scout Rifle. Snicker.

Oh please, an oil thread would be so blase, however, a schism about how to clean/lube a chain............ well now you have a true re-thread. Oil vs. WD-10, that should carry us well into the new year.
